Yesterday, Tonight and Tomorrow

by Rafael Elías Muñoz

Yesterday, my troubles seemed so far away
but Lennon’s voice, diluted in a glass of rum
and the emptiness of your chair,
brought them all back,
broke me bad

Tonight, I can write the saddest lines,
but Neruda’s, will still be sadder.
So, I’d rather cry the saddest tears
and see my reasons blur
and trap your image in drops that fade

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
I drown in Macbeth’s pain
Tomorrow is inexistent and you are too real to wait
smile today, breathe today, kiss me today
tomorrow will exist when it becomes today

Will we be, or not to be?
